The Picturing Climate Network ("PCN", "we", "us", "our") is operated by Dr. Mark Kasumovic as an independent research network. The PCN is an online platform connecting researchers, artists, scientists, and advocates working at the intersection of climate science and creative practice.

What Data We Collect and Why
1. Account and Membership Data
When you create an account on the PCN, we collect:

2. Newsletter and Email Communications
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and use it to send you updates about the network, new research, events, and resources.
Lawful basis: Consent — you can withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in any email, or by contacting us directly.
We also send transactional emails (for example, notifications about resource submissions you have made). These are necessary to operate the service and are not marketing.
3. Website Usage and Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website. This collects anonymised data including:

If you submit a resource to our Resources Library, we collect the resource details you provide (title, URL, type, description) along with your member ID and name to facilitate the moderation process. Approved resources are published publicly without personal attribution unless you include your name in the submission.

Your fellow network members — your name, collaborator type, research discipline, project details, and location are displayed publicly on the member directory and research map if you have an active project. You control what information you add to your profile.
International Data Transfers
Your data is hosted by Wix on servers which may be located outside the UK or EU. Where this occurs, appropriate safeguards are in place (including Standard Contractual Clauses) to ensure your data is protected to the same standard as required under UK and EU GDPR.
How Long We Keep Your Data
Data Retention period
Account and profile data - Until you delete your account
Project data - Until you remove it or delete your account
Newsletter subscription - Until you unsubscribe
Analytics data - 26 months
Resource submission records - 2 years
When you delete your account, your personal data is removed from the public-facing site. Some data may be retained in backups for up to 90 days before permanent deletion.
